Meet The Board

The team making limitless dreams and limitless possibilities happen.

Gurbaksh Chahal

Gurbaksh was born in Punjab, India in 1982.

When he was just 4 years old, Gurbaksh and his family migrated from India to San Jose, California. He endured a tough education and suffered immense bullying and racism growing up. At 16 he left school to pursue his dream of breaking into the dot-com world. Since then, he’s become a 4-time entrepreneur, motivational speaker, author, and philanthropist.

His keen interest in improving the world we live in and a want to give back led him to start his own foundation. Gurbaksh wanted to create a lasting legacy of positive change, through sharing love and hope. In August 2012, The Chahal Foundation was born.

As Chairman of the Foundation, he has an active role in researching causes and leading campaigns. The values and core missions of The Chahal Foundation have been set out by Gurbaksh himself, who believes:

“It doesn’t matter where we live or what we look like. It doesn’t matter whether we are rich or poor. It doesn’t matter what our religious beliefs are. We have the right to live without fear. We have the right to a better education. We all have the right to a better life. These are bonds that link us all.”

Rubina Bajwa

Rubina Bajwa was born in Vancouver as the third child of four siblings.

Her parents migrated to Canada from India after their marriage.

She is a leading actress in the Punjabi Film Industry and in 2018 won Best Debut at the PTC Awards (Punjabi Film Awards) for her performance in Sargi.

Rubina has always had a passion for making the world a better place for children.

Before launching her professional acting career in 2017, she was studying to become a social worker.

Her heartfelt devotion is to helping children, who do not live in a safe environment, to have the opportunity to find a place they can call home with safe protection.

With her own commitment to education, she completed her diploma in Early Childhood Education and Special Needs at Douglas College in Vancouver, British Columbia.

She splits her time between doing the things that she is most passionate about in life – activating to make the world a better place, as a key board member at The Chahal Foundation, and pursuing her own career as a leading actor.

Rubina is a true asset to The Chahal Foundation who is playing a big role in driving the growth and campaign activity of the Foundation to help and support as many lives as possible. We’re deeply grateful for the kindness, love, and dedication she brings to creating positive change.
