The Chahal Foundation Turns Ten
A decade marked by public campaigns, scholarship alumni, education initiatives, child-protection advocacy, emergency response, and calls for safer communities.
Timeline: 2012–2022
01
2012: #BeProud begins the public mission
The Foundation story begins with a response to the Oak Creek Sikh temple attack and a campaign against hate and discrimination. #BeProud became the moral starting point for a wider mission centered on dignity and belonging.
02
Education and scholarship history
The first decade included the Chahal Family Entrepreneurial Endowed Scholarship at Pace University, five scholarship alumni, school initiatives in India, and the Let's Make Our Kids Smile campaign.
The scholarship continues to connect the Foundation with entrepreneurship students at Pace University. The 2026 page brings together eligibility rules, the application timeline, and the stories of five alumni.
03
Protection, food access, and community support
The first decade included the Be a Super Hero child-protection campaign, food-security initiatives, community partnerships, and public calls to support children and families facing unsafe or unstable conditions.
04
Pandemic, disaster relief, and gun-violence advocacy
The later years included COVID-19 medical-supply initiatives, humanitarian response, the 2022 #GunControlNow campaign, a memorial for the Uvalde victims, and the #EndGunViolence senator-action toolkit.
Each initiative has a dedicated page with its history, media, and direct ways to continue the work.
