IRA Giving

Make an eligible IRA gift directly to the mission.

A qualified charitable distribution, or QCD, is a direct distribution from an eligible IRA to an eligible charity. For qualifying donors, it may also count toward a required minimum distribution.

How a QCD Works

Keep the transfer direct and documented.

The IRA trustee or custodian controls the distribution. Start with the institution that holds your IRA and use the Foundation's exact legal details.

Confirm Eligibility

QCD rules generally apply to eligible IRA owners age 70½ or older. Confirm your current eligibility with your IRA custodian or tax advisor.

Request a Direct Transfer

Ask the IRA trustee or custodian to make the distribution directly to Chahal Foundation rather than paying it to you first.

Include Identifying Details

Ask the custodian to include your name and contact information so we can match and acknowledge the gift.

Recipient Details

Give your custodian the correct legal name and EIN.

Contact us if the custodian also needs a mailing address, verification letter, or other receiving instructions.

Chahal Foundation
EIN / Tax ID

Before the custodian sends the gift

  • Confirm the account and distribution qualify under current IRS rules.
  • Confirm the payment will be made directly to the charity.
  • Ask how the custodian will identify you on the check or transfer.
  • Keep the custodian records and the acknowledgment from the Foundation.

Review current federal guidance

Eligibility, annual limits, reporting, and interactions with IRA contributions can change. Use current IRS guidance and professional advice for your situation.

QCD Support

Request receiving details or notify us of a pending gift.

Do not send IRA account numbers through this form. We only need enough information to help the custodian route the gift and to identify it when it arrives.

Get help with an IRA charitable gift

Tell us whether you need receiving instructions or have already asked your IRA custodian to send a gift.
